A five-year-old girl walks through a beautiful garden putting the petals of various flowers into the bowl she held. The moonlight shone brightly, illuminated her red hair and ruby eyes as she walks down the path going through the gardens.
She finally comes to a stop and places the bowl on the ground, throwing a piece of paper into it.
"Hear me now, I call upon thee,
Bring forward the missing part of my soul,
Someone that will complete me,
And finally make me whole,"
She stops and looks at the bowl but nothing happens.
"Ah hell! Stupid piece of trash it doesn't even work," she yelled angrily before stomping off. As soon as she leaves, the contents of the bowl begin to float gracefully into the wind, filling the night sky with color.
Lina sat down on the grass staring up at the full moon surrounded in the sea of stars. It was a beautiful night; it reminded her of a spell she had found, one that was only to be performed in the light of a full moon.
"Lina, what are you doing here?" a voice asked from behind her. She didn't have to look to know who it was.
"Hey Zel," she said never taking her eyes off the moon.
"I...we were worried about you," he said hoping that she didn't notice him slip on his words and was relieved to see that she was still staring at the moon. 'Gods she looks so beautiful.' Zelgadis shook his head. 'Why am I thinking this way about her now, I never thought of her this way before.'
"Zel."
His thoughts were interrupted by Lina's voice. She was now standing next to him looking into his eyes.
"Do you believe in destined love?" she asked. Zelgadis stared at her surprised. He wouldn't have been surprised if Amelia had asked him but Lina?
"You know, kindred spirits, like that there's only one person in this world for you, your soul mate. I know it sounds corny."
He took a step closer to her and touched her cheek. He turned her face to his staring into her eyes. Lina felt herself go weak under his gaze.
'His eyes are so beautiful'
"Yes I do 'cause I found her," he whispered softly, leaning forward pulling her into a deep embrace. His lips gently brushed against hers. Lina put her arms around his neck holding him closer, deepening the kiss.
Zelgadis didn't know what had come over him but he didn't care. He didn't want this kiss to ever end.
They finally drew away from each other, letting go of one another. Both were speechless and shocked.
"I'm sorry," Zelgadis said breaking the silence. He wasn't sure what had happened between them but he knew that the feelings he had kept hidden, feelings that he never knew he had. Had been resurfaced and all because of her, the redhead that stood before him. A gust of wind blew past making them both shiver.
"I think I'll go back to camp," he said turning away.
'Don't let him go'
'What am I suppose to do'
'Follow him, call to him, anything just don't let him go without telling him how you feel'
'I..I...'
Something caught Lina's eye. She bent over; there on the ground were flower petals and on top of it was a note. She picked it up:
Find me my soul mate
'It couldn't be'
She had forgotten she cast the spell, she thought that it didn't work. That's when she finally realised that it did. "Zel! Wait!" she yelled running towards him.
Zelgadis turned around to see Lina running to him. Lina wrapped her arms around him making them both fall to the ground. Zelgadis started to blush.
"Hear me now, I call upon thee,
Bring forward the missing part of my soul,
Someone that will complete me,
And finally make me whole," she whispered.
"Huh!?"
Lina smiled widely, "You're my soul mate Zelgadis Greywords."
